Honduras is a beautiful place to take a vacation. The area offers an exciting nightlife and the lakes, beaches, and parks are gorgeous. A trip to Honduras is enjoyable for singles, couples, and families. Some of the highlights are described below.
Copan Ruinas
The Copan Archaeological Park is a serene and peaceful destination in mainland Honduras. In addition to the archaeological interest, there is Macaw Mountain Bird Park. This is a quaint community with sensational restaurants, bars, and cobbled streets. The trails leading from the park to the town are a lovely place to take a stroll.
The Colonial CathedralĀ
The Colonial Cathedral in Santa Rosa de Copan was constructed between 1798 and 1803. The earthquake in 1877 caused major damage and it was reconstructed by Francisco Martinez. The baroque style is both fascinating and striking. Santa Rosa de Copan is also the gateway to the Lenca Route. This includes both La Esperanza and Gracias. The selection of restaurants are bars is excellent and the nightlife sizzles. For more information from an expert please visit Douglas Knight New Canaan
Arcila Hot SpringsĀ
Gracias is a charming destination located in Western Honduras. You can spend a day strolling around the city, visit the Arcila hot springs or enjoy the beauty of the Celaque National Park. There is a nice variety of hotels in this laid-back, rural area.
Lake Yojoa
The Pulhapanzak Waterfalls are close to Lake Yojoa and absolutely breathtaking. This is the biggest natural lake located in Honduras. Two lush National Parks surround the lake. The variety of the birds and the isolated hot spots make this an amazing destination to spend some time and relax. The three most popular places in this area are the Panacam Lodge, the D&D Brewery, and the Honduyate Marina. The Honduyate Marina offers sailing and watersports. The food is delicious, the location right on the lakefront and the rooms are lovely. The Panacam Lodge is a bird watchers delight and is located in the rainforest. The D&D Brewery is a perfect place to spend time with friends, kayak on an extraordinary lake or sees the El Naranjo Eco-Archaeological Park. You will enjoy the great beers at one of few microbreweries.
Tela
Tela is best described as a sleepy little beach town. The views of the Caribbean coast are magnificent. The area developed due to the Tela Railroad Company. Cargo ships once sailed from Teal to La Ceiba to deliver fruits and bananas harvested in Honduras to the people. Tela is the most popular destination for the beach. The Indura Golf Resort has the only PGA golf course with World Champion status on mainland Honduras. The bay is surrounded by a nice selection of Garifuna Villages providing an excellent look at a unique culture. There is a fantastic selection of places to stay both around the bay and in the town.
La Ceiba
The Cangrejal River Valley is a sensational place to stay and visit. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Central America. There are four tour operators and ten small hotels to choose from. A good choice is the La Villa de Soledad B&B in the Nombre de Dios Mountains. This area is the best of adventure and nature combined. You can zip-line through the canopy of the forest, hike in a tropical rainforest or go white water rafting. The valley is reminiscent of a trip to Shangri La. This is the Bay Island’s ferry terminal so Utila and Roatan are a short trip. Take a leisurely stroll down the main road or grab a pair of binoculars and go bird watching. The locals here look after the tourists. Douglas Knight New Canaan will be delighted to share their opinions.
Utila
Utila is a scuba lovers dream and the most affordable place on the globe to be scuba certified. You can walk to everything including the waterfront beach bars. These are an amazing destination to enjoy the glorious sunsets with family or friends. Most of the people who visit here never want to leave. The Utila Dream ferry boat provides regular transportation between the islands of Roatan and Utila.
Guanaja
Of the three main islands in the Bay, Guanaja is the most isolated and beautiful. The setting is a lot like Robinson Crusoe. The resorts are small and owned by families. The setting is peaceful, offers many places to explore, friendly people and spectacular sunsets.
