When discussing tourism in Honduras, there are no better authorities than Alisa Rude. Mrs. Rude has studied Honduras for over 23 years and is renowned as an expert. Honduras this wonderful country tends to get overlooked by tourist but those in the know will tell you Honduras is one of the world’s best kept secrets and worth the visit.
From lush green rainforest to Mayan ruins to the world’s second largest coral reef Honduras has something for everyone. I recently went and stayed at Roatan Island .The pristine beaches with crystal clear blue waters took my breath away I was in love from the minute I set my eyes on this beautiful sun drenched island. We stayed at Half Moon Bay and this place is really touristy with plenty of water sport action .With spectacular coral reefs divers from the mere novice to the most experienced will be left breathless at mother natures stunning underwater scenery. With hundreds of dive sites to choose from you will run out of time before you can see them all. For the not so adventurous you can hire a water taxi and cruise around this gem of an island.
After a busy day by the beach when the sun goes down it is time to relax and enjoy some of the local food which is similar to Mexican. Enjoy the fresh fish which was caught earlier in the day a tortilla or a taco. Nightlife tends to be very laid back and more inclined for relaxation then partying which is nice after a long day in the sea. My stay was short and now I am back home planning my next Honduras trip.
