Among the best attractions on the island, according to Luke Weil, is the reef itself. Weil, a recent visitor to the country and a dive enthusiast, has noted that the reef is very unique and incredibly accessible to even those with no previous diving experience. In fact, it is not even necessary to use scuba gear to experience the natural beauty that the reef offers to those who venture beneath the surface of the water. Since the reef extends very close to the shore, there is a great deal of marine life in the shallow crystal-blue waters that can be experienced while snorkeling.
The island is very hospitable to visitors and is easily traversed using nothing more than a scooter. Weil has said that he was thrilled to find a number of bars and restaurants that were built out on the end of extended docks, enabling him to enjoy a meal while essentially being surrounded by the overwhelmingly enchanting waters of the Caribbean.
While many will not have heard of Roatan before, a visit to the island will surely be memorable. There is much to do beyond diving, but it is all that is really necessary to create an experience worthy of recounting time and again.
